Whether at a city café in a parade of shops, on a lakeside terrace, for an appealing beer garden or outside a mountain hut, attractively designed outdoor spaces have become an important meeting place for people, because the first rays of sunshine draw people outside. But even in windy weather, guests want to be out in the fresh air and let the wind blow “lightly” around them in a sheltered atmosphere.
For the catering and hotel industry, this means creating new customer potential and additional sales opportunities. Therefore, decisions have to be made as to which concept and which products are suitable for outdoor operations. This is precisely where the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre concept comes in, namely to bring together the worlds of INTERGASTRA and the R+T with the concept of OUTDOOR. AMBIENTE. LIVING.
Already a tried and tested concept
The special exhibition OUTDOOR. AMBIENTE. LIVING. has already been successfully integrated twice (2018, 2020) at the INTERGASTRA hotel & gastronomy trade fair in the Rothaus Park on the grounds of the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre. Top industry players recently presented their high-quality sun and weather protection products on more than 750 m2 in the outdoor area of the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre. From slatted roofs and awnings to pergolas and sunshades – trade visitors could marvel at it all in the lower and upper sections of Rothaus Park.
In addition, a 150-metre long and colourful avenue of parasols with high-quality parasols from renowned manufacturers invited visitors to linger. More than 100,000 fair visitors took advantage of this offer – regardless of whether it was 20 degrees in the sunshine or raining. In this way, the other solution systems could also be examined directly on site under real conditions.
The concept will be further developed
“The feedback from visitors shows that we have accurately gauged the times with the special show,” says Sebastian Schmid, Head of the Technology department at the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre and initiator of the format. “With this success, we are taking an important step towards strengthening the brand OUTDOOR. AMBIENTE. LIVING. and to further establish it in the market.” INTERGASTRA project manager Markus Tischberger is also convinced by the concept of the special show: “The increasing demand for outdoor solutions in gastronomy and the hotel industry is clearly noticeable. This has encouraged us to hold OUTDOOR. AMBIENTE. LIVING. again at the INTERGASTRA 2022. I am pleased that we have used the synergies in-house, that we have been able to develop this project so successfully and we will continue to do so in the future.” At the upcoming INTERGASTRA from 19 to 23 February 2022, the special show OUTDOOR. AMBIENTE. LIVING. will be held once again.
Presentations and discussion rounds at the R+T digital
For 2021, the world’s leading trade fair for the industry, the R+T, has developed a complementary concept with the Gastronomy Day. This will start on Monday, 22 February 2021 at 11a.m. under the already proven motto “R+T meets INTERGASTRA”. Various representatives of the two leading trade fairs from gastronomy, the hotel industry, manufacturers and the building trade will meet here through to 5:30 p.m.
In a large panel discussion from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., which will take place live in Stuttgart at the ICS of the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre, renowned experts will exchange views on the topic of “Great opportunities for outdoor gastronomy – concepts and solutions with sun and weather protection”, dealing with the current challenges and trends in the outdoor gastronomy sector. During the moderated discussion round, online viewers can also ask questions via a chat function and thus participate directly and interactively in the discussion.
During the course of the first day of the event, representatives of leading manufacturer brands, such as Bahama, Bikatec, Corradi, Hella, Leiner, markilux, the Patronage, Shadesign, Terrassenprofis and Warema, will also present their sun and weather protection solutions in 25-minute talks before and after the discussion block.
From slatted roofs, pergolas, awnings, sunshades and sails to accessories such as windbreaks or heaters, visitors are thus given a full overview of what makes outdoor catering as practical and comfortable as possible in any weather.
Planning strategies for catering projects are also part of the presentation programme of various speakers and will be presented to the online audience of the R+T digital.
